Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a fresh setting and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the nature of humanity through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our common irreverent, ambitious approach to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
